Celebrating All Mothers and Mother Figures

On Mother's Day, we joyfully celebrate:

  • Biological mothers, adoptive mothers, and foster mothers: Your commitment to raising children is a testament to love's expansive power.
  • Grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and mentors: Your wisdom, support, and nurturing presence enrich so many lives.
  • Spiritual mothers: Your guidance and encouragement in the faith help to shape disciples and build up the body of Christ.

We also recognize that Mother's Day can evoke a range of emotions. For some, it is a day of deep joy and gratitude. For others, it may bring feelings of grief for mothers who have passed, a sense of longing for those who desire to be mothers, or complex emotions for those with strained or difficult maternal relationships. As a church family, we want to hold space for all these experiences, offering comfort, understanding, and the love of Christ to everyone.

A Call to Honor and Prayer

The commandment to "honor your father and your mother" (Exodus 20:12) is a cornerstone of our faith. This Mother's Day, let us take the opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation for the mothers and mother figures in our lives. Whether through words of affirmation, acts of service, or simply spending quality time together, let's make them feel cherished.

We also invite you to join us in prayer:

  • For mothers everywhere, that they may be strengthened, encouraged, and filled with God's wisdom and peace.
  • For those who are mothering in challenging circumstances, that they may find support and resilience.
  • For those who mourn, that they may find comfort in God's everlasting arms.
  • For those who long to be mothers, that they may find peace and fulfillment in God's perfect timing and plan.

This Mother's Day, may we all reflect on the incredible gift of motherly love – a love that mirrors God's own nurturing, steadfast, and life-giving care for each of us. We look forward to celebrating with you.

Join us for a special Mother's Day service on Sunday, May 11th, 2025, as we give thanks for the remarkable women in our lives.
